Joy-filled mountain elopement photography curated with a touch of whimsy

Mountain Denver Colorado Elopments

I believe wedding days should be enjoyed and not rushed. I love the intimate moments and the go-with-the-flow aspect that elopement weddings create. I'd love to journey with you to capture your intimate elopement.

I have adored love stories since I was too little to understand them. While I haven’t been a wedding elopement photographer for two decades (though it has been nearly one decade--let’s not age me too much), I do believe marriages are a sacred gift. I’ve never been big on parties or large crowds, so its no surprise Colorado Elopement photography is where I’ve landed myself after almost a decade of being a photographer.

My joy is to bring couples into an intimate connection during your elopement photography time. I want to capture your deep love for each other providing you with unforgettable memories and photographs that hold those elopement memories. I know this is the reason why you are choosing to have an elopement over a full wedding. I want to make sure my time is well spent with deep connection and lasting memories.

You should expect to feel comfortable. I know for most people being intimate with your loved one around other people can be hard. I also know most people aren’t comfortable in front of the camera. It’s a part of my job to help make that happen.

Ideal Location

I’ll help plan the most ideal location that represents you two for your elopement. I want to capture your Colorado elopement in the full beauty that this state holds, whether we find the perfect mountain top, valley or lake side, I am excited to go on this adventure with you all. I am also available for destination elopements outside of Colorado and would love to help you find the perfect place, maybe Milford Sound, New Zealand, The Scottish Highlands, Faroe Islands, The French Alps in France, or the Dolomites in Italy.

"Emmy is very organized and the {elopement} process went smoothly . Emmy has amazing talent and we never had doubt that our {wedding} photos would be perfect…They are not just photos, but art. "

- Sadra Thomas | Colorado

"Emmy takes the time to get to know you as a couple before your wedding. Her style of photography is magical and holds a lot of love and care… "

- Christy | Colorado

" …My biggest complaint is, I can't choose which ones I like best!!!! It was also important to us that we had a Christian photographer. We felt blessed to have Emmy at our wedding and wittiness the beauty of all God can bless in a new beginning…” - Tracy | New Mexico

Adventure Lover

I adore new experiences and meeting new people. So, meeting you and hearing your love story is joy enough for me in this job. But getting to have adventures in new places and capturing the love of a couple is icing on the cake for this girl’s heart.

I have almost a decade of experience in the wedding industry and as a photographer. I’ve worked through almost every wedding day nightmare you can imagine.

I have also endured a number of difficulties in my personal life, so I am able to be kind, generous and empathic towards tough things that occur leading up to or on your photo shoot day.

I am able to capture bright, epic sunsets, low-lighting situations and a number of other unconventional lighting scenarios that require careful expertise behind the camera.

I’ve taken classes with some of the top wedding photographers. I’ve learned some amazing tricks of the trade from them all as well as many valuable lessons.

I am passionate about relationships that are full of love and commitment.
You can be real with me. No need to put on fake faces; its my job to help you be you in front of the camera and capture who you are--not some artificial, falsely happy magazine pose.

Intimate Experience

I book a limited amount of elopements per year. My work with you will be personal and intimate.

I am a mama, and if you are a parent yourself or have watched one closely, you may have noticed that we can be quite good at multi-tasking. Being a mother has helped me become a better photographer because I can manage numerous things happening at once. I am able to stay relaxed when things go wrong (which they sometimes do) and can help you stay calm and collected as well.

Planning + Flow

I enjoy intentionally planning, but I have also learned the art of rolling with unexpected changes and finding beauty in those moments. I will work together with you to plan the photo side of things to have as a guideline, but on the day of, we’ll find and capture beauty in the day even if circumstances mean straying from the plan.

I have all of the necessary business tax and license insurance details squared away, but for me, having an assistant and/or second photographer on the day of your elopement is another form of insurance policy. The people I have chosen to work with, I would trust with my life--literally. If you’ve read some of my personal story, you’ll understand why I say this. They are also part of my insurance plan for your photo shoot day, which not many photographers offer for elopements because it is an added expense, but to me, it is worth every penny. Things go awry life happens and having two photographers is a good insurance policy.

Mountain | Denver, Colorado | Elopement Photography F.A.Q

Do you offer a break in elopement photography time?

  • Yes I have a 4 hour maximum for time I will be available to photograph, this includes any travel time from locations and hikes. So I offer breaks in coverage to compensate for my time limits.

  • For example we can start our photography time at 1pm photograph for 3 hours straight, take an hour break at 4pm and photograph for one more hour from 5-6pm.

Does driving or hiking to and from a location include your elopement photography time?

  • Yes, once we start photographing whether that is at the beginning of a trail head or at a home or hotel in which you're getting dressed and ready, I am capturing the story of your elopement and part of that is setting the scene. Think of when you watch a movie and you transition from one setting to another there are scenes to establish the locations.

  • I am another pair of eyes except mine hold a photograph behind them. You don't want to forget a moment of your wedding day including the hike in our out or the beautiful views getting there.

  • While we are hiking in our out of a location keep in mind the light is moving and the scene is changing. I am there to capture that all and I will frequently have us stop for photos if something is breath taking along the way.

How far will you hike for an adventure elopement?

  • 1 mile is my current limit for hikes. I apologize if this is an inconvenience to you. Please read my About Me page to understand more.

  • But don’t limit yourself to hiking for adventure elopements, let’s look at 4x4 Jeep elopement rentals or Snow Cat elopement rentals or even a Helicopter ride elopement. NO need to break that much of a sweat about my limitations, we can get creative to get to epic secluded locations.

We LOVE your work but need more hours?

  • I work with an amazing associate, Brittany who can help give you all more coverage. Contact us so we can chat about how this would work.

How many hours of elopement photography do you offer?

  • 3 hours is my maximum coverage time but I offer breaks in coverage. (See first FAQ question.)

How long will it take us to see our wedding photos after the wedding day?

  • A maximum of 90 days

Do you charge travel fees?

  • Yes, only for any session that takes place an hour or more outside the city limits of Denver. Travel fees start at $200.

  • For locations outside of Colorado see next question.

Do you photograph outside of Colorado?

  • Yes! I love to travel. Destination Elopements will include a travel fee which will cover flights, hotel for two nights, and a rental car.

How do I book you?

Can I see a sample gallery of an elopement?

  • Yes! Head on over to my clients page here.
