Forth of July...a little late
I have to be honest. I'm terrible at documenting my own life. Granted, I'm terrible at being completely socially present while shooting. I truly get in the "zone." So, I think my excuse is valid. I'm terrible at documenting my life because I'm too busy living it. ;)
I always think of what C.S. Lewis said in The Great Divorce, when a famous painter saw a beautiful view, he wanted to paint it, instead of just standing before it in awe. Sometimes, we just need to stand in awe, enjoy the moment, not always capture it....I could go on for hours about this...so on to my post.
For the forth of July I actually brought my camera with me to the things Josh and I did for Independence day. We began the day with a great drive up to Fort Collins to visit sweet friends who are there for work this summer. They have a sweet, now 6 month old lil guy named Cai. I'm in love with him...and thankful for his amazing parents.
Josh and I finished our evening on a balcony of our friend Nate (who also helped us get our house) watching the fireworks. I am SO thankful I had my camera. Everytime we are over at Nate's we see amazing sunsets and beautiful views of Downtown Denver, CO. But I always have my iphone, and it just never does it justice.
I love how you can just see the layers of the mountains with the evening light illuminating them all. <3
I am SO thankful I was able to capture this. Especially since we had a view where we could see the mountains in the background, the city lights in the foreground and in the center a firework. Yep, it was great!
As the evening progressed Denver Country Club put this show on, no awesome back drops but we were way closer to the fireworks. Which was super hard to capture without a tripod. Thanks balcony railing for being my substitute! haha
I'm so thankful to live in such a unique beautiful city.
