Last month my sweet husband and I celebrated four years together. Other than our honey moon we haven't gone on a trip just the two of us outside of traveling to see family or for work. So this year, before our little one arrives we wanted to make sure we did something fun. (Isn't he so handsome!?...even though a little dorky carrying his water bottle...I still love him a lot. ;) )
After a month or two of researching we decided it would be most affordable and enjoyable to do a stay-cation here in Denver. I found the Oxford Hotel, the oldest hotel in Denver! I booked two nights and we then planned some fun things to do around the hotel so we could pretend we flew there and had no car. ;)
We tried some new restaurants: Toms 24, Crepes'n'Crepes and The Market. The Market was by far our favorite and definitely our style. We also visited the Impulse Theater and saw their very enjoyable improv production, which I would highly recommend. We stopped in the Museum of Contemporary Art but they were in the midst of new installations so there was only one floor open. We cheated a bit on Sunday and tried out the Alamo Draft-house in Littleton which was actually very good!
We both discovered after three full days of being consumers we really are not the eat-out every meal kind of people, and also just enjoy being at home or going on adventures outside of being a consumer. It was such a blessing though to be able to do all that we did and we are so thankful for that.
Oh, I cannot forget to mention how awesome the hotel was! They definitely did an amazing job at keeping the style in tac and creating an old time feel to everything. My only suggestion if you ever stay there would be to pay for one of the bigger rooms because our room had the smallest shower of my life...smaller than we saw in Europe, which is saying a lot. haha.
I just also want to say how thankful I am for the past four years with my husband. Even though it hasn't be happily ever after every single moment it has been beyond joyful in all the ways God has lead us. We are each others true best friends and have been through so much together already, which has just made us stronger and closer. I cannot wait to see what God has in store.
