I always appreciate when other photographers share what they are shooting with. In appreciation of that, I'm going to finally share all of my gear I use as a Denver wedding photographer! First my bodies: I have two. One is pictured below, the Nikon D5100. The other not pictured which is  similar is the Nikon D5000. One day, hopefully next year I'll be able to invest in a full-frame body but for now these guys do an AMAZING job for the "level" they are considered. As another photographer told me when I was beginning out "the equipment doesn't make the photographer." And it is so true!

Although, after saying that, I have to admit when I got my first prime lens, I was in love. This is my babe, the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 DX. It has helped me capture some of my favorite moments. This is my far my favorite len. Mostly because it can work in SO many situations and is so versatile.

Here is a fav of mine that was taken with the 35mm.

My favorite accessories for this lens are my macro filters. These things are GENIUS! For those of us who cannot afford the $1000 macro lens it is a SUPER affordable alternative. These guys have been worn in for sure, thus why the text on the side is almost worn off. haha

I have two more but the +4 and +8 are my go to. It took some time to learn to use them just right, especially since the sweet spot with the +8 is pretty intense. If you ever get one of these I wouldn't recommend shooting the +8 in apertures wider than f/4 unless you're a manual focus wiz.

Here is one of my favorite photos taken with the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 DX lens with the macro filters.

Could I fool you that this wasn't a macro lens?! I kinda hope so. haha ;)

Next on my line up is my Nikon DX 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 ED VR II. This was actually my first legit lens I bought, which helped me work super fast; which is a necessity for denver wedding photography. This lens isn't as sharp as any prime lenses but it can get you a lot of very different shots very quickly.

My favorite part of this lens is the awesome wide angle shots I can get. While I do not believe it is a true "wide" angel it does get a 76° angle, which is very nice for large wedding parties, like this wedding I did in October.

This year's newest edition to my equipment gang is the Nikon 85mm f/1.8. I was so excited to get this lens as I had many other people say it will change your shooting, and well, it has. It has helped me capture some very sweet intimate moments without having to be in people's faces like I do with my 35mm.

This is a great example. I love to use this lens during the first dance because I can be off "in the crowd" but still able to capture the faces of the bride and groom as the spend, probably one of the first moments alone together on their wedding day.

Next are my flashes: Nikon SB-600. These aren't the top of the line but honestly haven't held me back at all. Since I have two bodies I invested in two on two speedlights for both of my bodies. I feel like I get so slowed down shooting when I have to stop and switch lenes or flashes, so why not go the American way and get two!? haha

Even with on-camera flash you can still totally work a reception well. This is one of my favorite reception photos. Shot with the 85mm at f/1.8 with the SB-600 on camera.

Of course I cannot forget to mention my computer: The MEGA 27" iMac, haha. This baby is fully loaded with 8g of ram and the i7processor; yet I can still slow it down. :D haha. This computer has COMPLETELY changed my editing. When i first began I was editing on my 15" dell laptop. Now I can see how terribly out of focus I used to be ALL the time...haha. *sigh* So thankful for this guy!

In light of doing this I want to begin writing reviews of the equipment I own from a wedding photographers perspective which I hope will be helpful to other photographers out there. But also, give my clients a confidence that I'm not just some random person with a camera. ;) And guess what I have some new gear to share! More on that one coming tomorrow. :)

I do have to greatly praise God for providing so much for my photography business. He has provided every wedding and every session that has helped me invest back into my business helping my quality improve hugely. I am so blessed.
